Cya Facebook!

After a post about Alabama’s Roy Moore election, Facebook tells me that the name I’ve been using for my account (which I go by in my everyday life) for over ten years is no longer acceptable. So, I decided Facebook was no longer acceptable.

Granted, it’s been something I’ve been pondering for some time–Facebook continued to make dubious decisions regarding the 2016 elections, the way Facebook collects data, and serious questions that I (and evidently former FB executives–at least until they’re told they can’t say that) have about the impact of the social network on our everyday lives (surprise: I’m not a fan) have made me question my continued use of the platform. This is just the final straw, so to speak.

So, I’m waiting to see what Facebook will do. They’ve given me a deadline of Dec. 17th to change my name. I’m not going to do so. If they deactivate my account, I’ll just go ahead and delete it and move on with things. In that case, I’ll actually put some effort in updating this site since I’ll no longer have my FB account to pass along my silly musings.

Stay tuned!
